1. Work is recommended to be carried out on a warm engine.
2. Warm up the engine.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover (Ch. 2).
4. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC of the compression stroke (Ch. 2). In this position of the crankshaft, valve clearances 1, 2, 4 and 6 are measured (photo).
5. Measure the gaps in the indicated valves with a feeler gauge.
6. If necessary, loosen the locknut and adjust the gap by turning the screw. The feeler gauge should pass between the valve and the screw with little effort.
7. While holding the screw, tighten the locknut and check the gap again.
8. Turn the crankshaft 1 turn clockwise and make sure that the position of the slider distributes the ignition that the piston of the 4th cylinder is at TDC of the compression stroke. Measure clearances 3, 5, 7 and 8 cylinders.
9. Install the cylinder head cover.
