1. The thermoelement consists of a set of horizontal wires embedded in the glass at the molding stage.
2. Minor damage to the wires can be repaired by yourself, it is not necessary to remove the glass.
3. To check the operation of the rear window heater, start the engine and turn on the heater.
4. Connect one of the test lamp wires to ground, and touch the heater wire with the other wire.
5. Move the wire along the wire from right to left - the brightness of the lamp should increase. If the brightness of the lamp is the same at both ends of the thermocouple wire, then the heater's ground connection should be checked. All wires should be tested in at least two places.
6. To repair the heater, you will need a special conductive paste with silver powder (available for sale).
7. Turn off the heater and wait for it to cool down.
8. Lightly polish the damaged area with a soft steel sponge, wipe with alcohol.
9. Stick pieces of adhesive tape on both sides of the damaged area, so that the gap between the pieces exactly matches the wire path on the damaged area.
10. Dip a poster pen into the paste and draw a line across the gap between the pieces of tape so that a strip of paste overlaps the damaged area a little.
11. Carefully remove the pieces of tape and dry the applied track with an air soldering iron at a temperature of 250-350°C for 1-2 minutes from a distance of 2-3 cm to the glass.
12. If necessary, restore the color of the damaged area with tincture of iodine. The restored heater can be turned on after at least 24 hours.
