Attention! Some of the models covered in this manual are equipped with airbags - be sure to turn off the SRS when servicing components located near the airbags (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment).
1. Follow the procedures in paragraphs 8 to 12 of Section Checking, adjusting and replacing the shift cable.
2. Disconnect the key lock actuator cable from the shift lock solenoid valve and release it from the support bracket at the front of the selector lever base (see Section Transmission shift lock system - general information, condition check and component replacement).
3. Give two forward nuts of fastening of assembly of the selector lever.
4. Jack up the car and put it on stands.
5. From below give two back nuts of fastening of the selector lever to a floor.
6. Inside the vehicle, disconnect any electrical wiring that may interfere with the removal of the lever assembly, then separate the latter from the floor panel and remove it from the vehicle.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Don't forget to adjust the drive cable (see Section Checking, adjusting and replacing the shift cable).
