- d) Tool for crimping piston rings;
- e) Short lengths of fuel hose for fitting rod bearing caps onto studs;
- f) Measuring set Plasti-gage;
- g) A set of blade type probes;
- h) File with a small tooth;
- i) Fresh motor oil;
- j) Assembly motor or molybdenum-containing lubricant;
- k) gasket sealant;
- l) Sealant for fixing threaded connections.
2. To save time and minimize problems, assemble the engine in the following order:
SOHC engines
- a) Piston rings;
- b) crankshaft and main bearings;
- c) Rear crankshaft oil seal;
- d) Connecting rod and piston assemblies;
- e) Oil pump with oil pickup tube (see part SOHC engines);
- f) Oil pan (see part SOHC engines);
- g) Cylinder heads with camshafts, valve lifters and rocker arms (see part SOHC engines);
- h) Timing belt with gears (see part SOHC engines);
- i) timing belt covers (see part SOHC engines);
- j) Inlet pipeline and exhaust manifold (see part SOHC engines);
- k) cylinder head covers (see part SOHC engines);
- l) Engine rear plate (see part SOHC engines);
- m) Flywheel/Drive Disc (see part SOHC engines).
DOHC engines
- a) Piston rings;
- b) crankshaft and main bearings;
- c) Rear crankshaft oil seal with holder;
- d) Connecting rod and piston assemblies;
- e) Oil pump with oil pickup tube (see part DOHC engines);
