When operating a car in a very dusty area, a busy urban cycle (frequent short trips), and when towing a trailer frequently, routine maintenance intervals should be kept as short as possible.
Maintenance of a new vehicle, in order to avoid violating the factory warranty, should be carried out at a branded service station of the vehicle manufacturer.
Every 400 km (250 miles) mileage or once a week (what comes first)
- Check engine oil level (see Section Checking fluid levels).
- Check engine coolant level (see Section Checking fluid levels).
- Check the windshield washer fluid level (see Section Checking fluid levels).
- Check brake fluid levels (see Section Checking fluid levels).
- Check tire condition and inflation pressure (see Section Checking the condition of tires and their inflation pressure).
Every 4800 km (3000 miles) mileage or every 3 months (what comes first)
In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:
- Check PAS Fluid Level (see Section Checking the power steering fluid level).
- Check the level of ATF AT (see Section Automatic transmission ATF level check).
- Change engine oil and oil filter (see Section Changing the engine oil and oil filter).
Every 12,000 km (7500 miles) mileage or every 6 months (what comes first)
In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:
- Check the condition of the seat belts (see Section Checking the condition of the seat belts).
- Check the condition of the wiper blades and replace if necessary (see Section Checking the condition and replacing the wiper blades).
- Check the condition of the battery and carry out its maintenance (see Section Checking, servicing and charging the battery).
- Check the condition and tension of the drive belts, if necessary, make appropriate adjustments (see Section Checking the condition, adjusting the tension and replacing the drive belt).
- Check the condition of all hoses located in the engine compartment, replace if necessary (see Section Check of a condition and replacement of the hoses located in an impellent compartment).
- Check the function and condition of the cooling system components (see Section Checking the Condition of the Cooling System Components).
- Rotate your wheels (see Section Wheel rotation).
Every 24,000 km (15,000 miles) mileage or every 12 months (what comes first)
In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:
- Check the condition and proper operation of the power system (see Section Checking the status of power system components).
- Check the proper functioning of the brake system and the condition of its components (see Section Checking the brake system).*
- Check the condition of the exhaust system components (see Section Check of a condition of components of system of release of the fulfilled gases).
- Check the MTF level of the manual transmission (see Section Checking the level of manual transmission oil).
Every 48,000 km (30,000 miles) mileage, or every 24 months (what comes first)
In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:
- Replace the air filter (see Section Replacing the air cleaner element).*
- Replace the fuel filter (see Section Fuel filter replacement).
- Replace spark plugs (for conventional candles) (see Section Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs).
- Check the condition of the BB spark plug wires, replace if necessary, on models 1993 and 1994. issue check the condition of the cover and the distributor slider (see Section Checking the condition and replacing the explosive spark plug wires, cover and distributor slider).
- Check condition of PCV valve, replace if necessary (see Section Checking and replacing the valve of the controlled crankcase ventilation system (PCV)).
- Perform cooling system maintenance (emptying, flushing and changing the brake fluid) (see Section Maintenance of the cooling system (emptying, rinsing and filling)).
- Replace ATF AT (see Section Replacement of ATF automatic transmission and final drive).**
- Change manual transmission oil (see Section Replacement of transmission oil manual transmission).**
- Check the condition of the suspension and steering components, as well as the protective covers of the CV joints of the drive shafts (see Section Checking the Condition of Suspension and Steering Components).
Every 96,000 km (60,000 miles) mileage or every 48 months (what comes first)
- Check valve clearance setting and adjust if necessary (on models since 1995 vol. only with an increase in the background noise of the valve mechanism) (see chapter Engine).
- Check the condition and function of the EGR valve (see Section Checking the condition of the EGR valve).
- Replace spark plugs (for platinum candles) (see Section Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs).
- Check condition/replace timing belt - 1993 and 1994 models. issue (see chapter Engine).
* When operating the vehicle in stressful conditions, perform all procedures marked with an asterisk every 4800 km (3000 miles) mileage or every 3 months (what comes first).
Note. Stress refers to the following operating conditions:
- - Strong dustiness of the area;
- - Trailer towing;
- - Long engine idling/low speed driving;
- - Low ambient temperature (below 0°С) combined with short trips (less than 6 km [4 miles]).
** When operating the vehicle in any of the following conditions, the procedures marked with two asterisks must be performed every 24,000 km (15,000 miles) mileage:
- Busy urban cycle at high ambient temperatures (over 32°С);
- Driving in hilly or mountainous areas;
- Frequent trailer towing.
