Used to complete the considered models 6-cylinder V-shaped (V-6) gasoline engines are mounted transversely in front of the car and are equipped with an electronic fuel injection system. Models from 1993 to 1994 issue equipped with V6 engines of the VG30DE series, the heads of which are equipped with a single overhead camshaft (SOHC), later models use VQ30DE series engines with two overhead camshafts (DOHC) in each of the cylinder heads.
Installed direct ignition system.
Starting in 2000, improvements to the air intake system and gas distribution system of the VQ30DE engine resulted in an increase in power from 193 hp. up to 200 hp at 6400 rpm. and torque from 255 Nm at 4000 rpm to 271 at 3600 rpm. The new intake system with variable valve timing allows you to get more torque at both low and medium speeds. Molybdenum coated pistons reduce friction losses. A variant with a 2.0 liter VQ20DE engine is offered.
Note. A limited number of 1993-1994 models not covered in this manual. issue also equipped with V6 DOHC engines of the VE30DE series. All models are front-wheel drive and can be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox (RKPP), or 4-speed automatic transmission (AT) with electronic control. Rotation is transmitted to the wheels by means of independent drive shafts.
The steel body of Maxima cars has a universal design. A 30% increase in body rigidity for models since 2000 further increases the level of passive safety. These bodies are larger.
The front suspension is independent with MacPherson struts equipped with coil springs and an anti-roll bar. In the rear suspension of models 1993 - 1994. issue MacPherson struts with coil springs and parallel rods are also used. Since 1995, no. began to be used equipped with telescopic shock absorbers with coil springs, a continuous rear axle with a transverse rod and trailing arms. On models since 2000, the rear suspension side arm is not in front, but behind the transverse torsion bar. The result is increased tire grip, reduced body roll and improved directional stability.
The rack and pinion steering gear is equipped with a hydraulic booster system and is located behind the power unit. The gain value decreases as the movement speed increases.
The brake mechanisms of the front wheels have a disc design. The rear wheels can be equipped with drum (1993 and 1994 models issue), and disk (models since 1995 issue.) brake mechanisms. A vacuum brake booster is standard on all models. Since 1997, an anti-lock brake system has been included in the standard equipment of the car (ABS). On models since 2000, the diameters of the front and rear brake cylinders have been increased by 2.3 mm and 4.2 mm, respectively. In case of emergency braking, ABS is immediately activated thanks to the Nissan Brake Assist system, a reliable mechanical system designed to increase the pressure on the pedal. These two systems are complemented by an electronic brake force distribution system that distributes the maximum pressure in the brake cylinders on each axle in accordance with the load, which significantly increases the safety of emergency braking.
Front and side airbags for the driver and passengers are standard. They work in conjunction with seat belts equipped with pyrotechnic tensioners with limiters. Pretensioners instantly tighten the belt in the event of a frontal impact if the instantaneous deceleration exceeds the set limits, and the limiters do not allow the seat belts to injure a person.
All rear seats have head restraints and three-point seat belts, and the two outer seats have ISOFIX child seat fittings.
Active front seat headrests, which significantly reduce the risk of injury to the cervical vertebrae, are also included as standard. When hit from behind, they move up and forward. Only fire-resistant materials were used in the interior trim.
Electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, an anti-glare rear view mirror, as well as thickened glass with an ultraviolet filter and xenon headlights can be installed.
On models since 2000, the anti-theft system NATS is installed (Nissan Anti Theft System) fifth generation with an improved immobilizer. Single lock and system "Superlock" are standard on all vehicles sold in Russia. In addition, a remote lock control system is available with "floating" code.
A car since 2000 comes with two ignition keys, each of which remembers the personal settings of its owner. This means that each of the drivers can use their own audio system settings, which will then be automatically restored. To do this, you only need to use your key and the audio system will automatically work using the settings associated with this key. Installed front xenon headlights, new 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels. Trunk volume 520 l. Control of the audio system is duplicated by the keys on the steering wheel. Larger text on the instrument cluster using new fluorescent backlight technology "Fine Vision". Air conditioning is standard on all models, manual on the SLX and automatic on the SE.
