Warning! Remember that the dust generated during the operation of the brake mechanisms may contain asbestos, which is extremely harmful to human health. Never blow off dust with compressed air or inhale it - wear a protective mask or respirator when servicing mechanisms. Never use gasoline or petroleum-based solvents to clean brake system components - use only branded cleaners or methyl alcohol!
1. Loosen the wheel nuts. Jack up the back of the car and place it on jack stands. Remove wheels.
2. Remove the brake drum/caliper with disc (see chapter Brake system).
3. Remove the protective cap of the wheel bearing.
4. Remove the cotter pin.
5. Give a stub nut, remove a washer.
6. Remove the hub assembly with the rear axle trunnion bearing.
7. Before installing the components in place, the running surface of the axle trunnion should be lubricated with bearing grease.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Tighten the hub nut to the required torque and secure with a new cotter pin. Torque tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts (see chapter Brake system).
9. Replace the wheels, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
