Leak test
1. Clean the area where the leak is expected (e.g. parting surface of torque converter and gearbox cases).
2. Start the engine, press the brake pedal, move the selector to position D and wait a few minutes.
3. Stop the engine.
4. Check for fresh fluid leaks.
Checking Fluid Condition
| Abnormal liquid color | probable cause |
| Dark or black with a burning smell | Friction material wear |
| milky pink | admixture of water. Water from the road may have entered through the filler tube or breather |
| Light to dark brown, sticky liquid | Oxidation as a result of overshoot, decrease or increase in level |
