Removing
1. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC of the compression stroke according to the marks on the crankshaft pulley (see section «Timing gear CD engines»).
2. Remove the air line with the resonator and the toothed belt cover.
3. Loosen the idler locknut and turn the idler clockwise to release the tension. Then temporarily tighten the nut.
4. Remove the toothed belt.
Installation
1. Make sure that the piston of the 1st cylinder is at TDC of the compression stroke. If the injection pump pulley was removed, then it must be installed as shown in the figure.
2. Put on a toothed belt.
The white lines on the belt must match the marks stamped on the camshaft pulleys and injection pump. The arrow on the toothed belt must point towards the belt cover.
3. Adjust belt tension as follows:
- a) Loosen the tension roller locknut. The required tension will be set automatically.
- b) Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns. Do not turn the crankshaft by the camshaft pulleys.
- With) Tighten the locknut while holding the idler roller with a screwdriver.
