Accumulator battery
Use only 12V battery.
Do not disconnect or connect battery wires while the engine is running.
The engine control unit
Do not disassemble the engine control unit.
Do not apply excessive force when turning the diagnostic mode selector.
When measuring ECM signals with a tester, do not short the probes. A short circuit can damage the unit's power transistors.
Disconnecting the battery resets the ECM's memory and will use the preset values when powered on. The operation of the engine may change slightly, which is not a malfunction and should not be a reason to replace parts.
When connecting the ECM connector on a CD20E engine, tighten the fixing bolt until there is no gap between the orange indicators (tightening torque is 3-5 Nm).
Injection pump with electronic control (CD20K)
Do not disconnect the HPHT connectors while the engine is running.
Do not disassemble the injection pump. except for the removal of the camshaft position sensor, injection start angle control valve and fuel cut-off valve.
Injection parts
Do not disassemble nozzle #1 (with built-in needle lift sensor). If the injector is defective, replace it as an assembly.
Protect the crankshaft position sensor from impact.
Engine starting
Do not press the accelerator pedal when starting the engine.
Unnecessarily do not increase the engine speed immediately after starting.
Do not rev the engine just before stopping it.
Installation of radio equipment
When installing a CB radio or mobile phone, observe the following:
- The antenna should be located as far away from the ECM as possible.
- The antenna feed should be placed at least 20 cm away from the wires related to the electronic control system, and should not run parallel to nm for a long distance.
- The antenna and feeder should be adjusted to minimize the standing wave ratio.
- The body of the radio station must be connected to the ground of the body.
Electrical connectors
- Fasten the connectors securely. A bad connection can cause the coil and capacitor voltage to surge, damaging the integrated circuits.
- Keep the ECM harness at least 10cm away from adjacent wires to avoid interference.
- Keep moisture away from the connectors and parts of the electronic control system.
- Before disconnecting the connectors, turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
