Machine stop
1. Carefully drive the car away from the road.
2. Turn on the flashing alarm.
3. Park the vehicle on level ground and set the parking brake. Set the manual transmission lever to reverse. (If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, set the selector lever to "R").
4. Stop the engine.
CAREFULLY!
- To avoid the risk of the machine moving under the jack, do not change wheels on a slope or in a slippery or icy area.
- Tires should not be changed if oncoming traffic passes close to the car. It is recommended to wait until the technical assistance vehicle arrives.
- To warn oncoming drivers that you need technical assistance, it is recommended to lift the hood.
- All passengers must get out of the car and wait in a safe place, away from the road and the car.
Spare wheel and tools
Remove the spare wheel and jack from the built-in storage areas.
If the vehicle is equipped with an aluminum spare wheel, an adapter must be used to loosen the pinch bolt.
Wheel lock
To prevent the vehicle from accidentally slipping off the jack, place proper chocks at the front and rear of the wheel that is diagonal to the flat tire.
Removing the wheel cover
To remove the wheel cover, follow the steps shown in the figure.
Jacking and wheel removal
To avoid injury, read the label attached to the jack carefully and follow the instructions below:
1. Place the jack directly under the stop point shown in the figure and so that the head of the jack almost touches this point. Align the center of the head with the center of the thrust socket on the body as shown. Align the line of the thrust socket with the groove on the jack head.
The jack should be used on a flat and firm surface.
2. Loosen all wheel nuts by turning counterclockwise one or two turns using a wheel wrench. Do not tighten the wheel nuts completely until the wheel is off the ground.
3. Carefully jack up the wheel until it is clear of the ground. Tighten the nuts and remove the wheel.
CAREFULLY!
- It is forbidden to stay under the machine when it is only supported by a jack. Use a stand for this.
- It is recommended to use only the jack supplied with the vehicle and not to use this jack on other vehicles. Remember that the jack is only for raising the machine to change a wheel.
- When lifting the machine, hold the lever and jack pin firmly as shown.
- It is not allowed to rest the jack in any other places of the machine, in addition to the stop sockets intended for this.
- Do not jack up the car more than is necessary to remove the wheel.
- Do not start the engine when the machine is jacked up.
- No people are allowed in the car when it is jacked up.
- It is not allowed to lift the machine with a jack resting under the front or rear bumper.
Wheel installation
CAREFULLY! Before fitting a spare tire, please read the specific instructions in section "Wheels and tires".
1. Remove dirt from the surface between the wheel and hub.
2. Position the wheel carefully and finger-tighten the wheel nuts.
3. Using a wrench, alternately and evenly tighten the nuts.
4. Slowly jack down the machine until the tire touches the ground. After that, tighten the nuts again with a wrench in the sequence shown in the figure.
ATTENTION!
- After changing a wheel, tighten the wheel nuts as soon as possible to the specified tightening torque with a torque wrench. Wheel nuts tightening torque: 98...118 Nm (10...12 kgf·m)
- Adjust the air pressure in the tires to a value equal to the norm "cold" pressure.
Cold pressure: "cold" tire pressure is considered when the car has stood for at least three hours or traveled no more than 1.6 km.
Norm "cold" Tire pressure is shown on a decal affixed to the B-pillar on the driver's side.
CAREFULLY! After driving 1000 km, the wheel nuts must be re-tightened.
5. Stow the removed wheel and jack securely in their respective positions on the vehicle.
CAREFULLY! After replacement, make sure that the removed wheel and lifting accessories are properly stowed in the appropriate places in the machine.
These items, if loose, can be dangerous in the event of an accident or sudden braking of the vehicle.
