Removal and installation
Examination
Check the pedal and bracket for the following defects:
- Pedal bend
- Deformation of axle pin
- Cracks in welds
- Cracks and deformations of the pin retainer
Adjustment
Check pedal height above floor booster (right hand drive models) or the bottom of the bulkhead (left hand drive models) in a free state (magnitude 11) and under load 490 N (50 kgf) with the engine running (value D).
Control values are given in the section «Data for adjustments and control».
If necessary, make adjustments as follows.
1. Loosen the locknut and set the free pedal height by turning the brake booster pushrod. Then tighten the locknut.
2. Check pedal height.
Make sure the brake lights are off when the pedal is released.
3. Check the pedal height when depressed with the engine running. If less than specified, check system for air, fluid leaks, or damage (master cylinder, wheel cylinders, etc.). Make the necessary repairs.
